Youth Theatre
Sunnybank Theatre Group

A LOCAL THEATRE. FOR YOUNG PEOPLE.

Sunnybank Theatre Group’s Youth program strives to introduce children to the wonderful world of theatre. The program includes drama activities, stagecraft, singing and choreography.  Young performers are also taught skills beyond the stage such as team building, self-confidence and problem-solving.

In 2025, we have two groups working during the school terms towards an End of Semester Showcase for family and friends.

  • Primary school aged (Tuesdays from 4pm - 5pm)

  • High school-aged     (Tuesdays from 5pm - 6pm)

ABOUT OUR COORDINATOR

Bec is a Beaudesert girl who discovered her love of performing during dance lessons at the age of 2.  She has been dancing at BeauDance Academy for over 20 years and now teaches there.  Bec was involved with BAMS Theatre inc’s junior group, Bambinos for 7 years before becoming one of the coordinators 10 years ago.  She took over as coordinator for STG’s youth program in 2019, teaching young performers all about the stage and performance skills.

Bec has performed in many theatrical productions over the last 14 years and has enjoyed her time in roles including Liesl in The Sound of Music in 2011, Vicky in The Odd Couple in 2016, and Neuro in A Little Box Of Oblivion in 2017.  Her most recent roles have been as vocal director and performer for The Bamettes in a production of In The Mood - Music of the 1930s, Gertrude McFuzz in Seussical and Erato in our recent production of Xanadu

ACKNOWLEDGEMENT TO COUNTRY

We acknowledge that the land that we gather and perform on is the traditional country and homelands of the Yuggera and Turrbal Peoples of Brisbane. We acknowledge they have walked, cared for, sung, told stories and danced on this land for thousands of years. We acknowledge and respect their spiritual relationship, cultural heritage, beliefs and connection to this land and it is still important to their descendants of today.

We acknowledge the Elders, those here today and those who have passed back into the great dreaming.
